Local scoops within 35 minutes — farm stands to late-night legends
The Sweet Side
Cape Cod and ice cream have a long relationship. After a morning at Nauset or Coast Guard Beach, the tradition is simple: rinse off, drive a few minutes, and find a cone. The Outer Cape has everything from farm-made small-batch scoops to beloved roadside institutions that have been serving soft-serve since the 1950s. Head north toward Wellfleet for quiet local spots, south toward Dennis and Harwich for the Cape's most celebrated scoop shops, and all the way to Provincetown for the ritual late-night line outside Spiritus. The only rule is to go often.

The Knack gives 10% of dessert sales to local charities — the soft-serve is excellent and the lobster roll makes it a proper meal.
Spiritus in Provincetown is the traditional last stop of the night — ice cream at midnight after dinner on Commercial Street.
PJ's in Wellfleet has been serving soft-serve and fried clams on Route 6 since 1971 — a genuine Outer Cape institution.
